Dovercourt Sports
Dovercourt is aware of the incredible impact playing sports has on the character development for people of all ages and as a result we offer a variety of sports programs for children, youth and adults. These programs focus on maximum participation, fun, social interaction, achievement, recognition, and learning the fundamentals of each sport from our trained and caring staff. A great way to increase confidence, build positive self-esteem and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.

Family Taekwondo

Taekwondo, a Korean martial Art which is now an Olympic sport, is the practice of hand and leg techniques for self defense and will improve your physical health, focus and flexibility, while decreasing stress. Enjoy this sport with the whole family.

Jump Rope Club

Kids who love to jump rope can learn amazing new tricks and have a show at the end of the session! Learn skills such as Double Dutch, single rope, plus free style. In partnership with Bill Chong’s Sport Programs and Ottawa Acro Ropers. Ages 7-12 yrs.

Small Ball

A fully inclusive basketball program designed for children 5-7 years old. Created by Basketball Canada in conjunction with the Provincial & Territorial Basketball Organizations and NBA Canada (www.basketball.ca). Children will learn the fundamentals of basketball using equipment and a game that has been modified to suit their needs, size and abilities.

Mondays, 6-7pm


Sportball

SPORTS INSTRUCTION FOR CHILDREN – www.sportball.ca
Sportball is a unique non-competitive sports program for young children between the ages of 16 months to 8 yrs that recognizes the importance of developing fundamental movement skills in the early years. Programs are carefully designed and focus on improving gross motor skills, physical strength, social skills and self-esteem. Through creative instruction, customized sports equipment and positive encouragement, children have the opportunity to learn and participate in sport in a fun and exciting environment


Sportball programs focus on 7 popular ball sports: Hockey, Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Volleyball, Tennis and Golf. Children are taught the fundamental skills of each sport and have the opportunity to practice and refine these skills individually and in game situations. Creative games and activities are also integrated into classes, which allow children to interact with peers while learning skills essential for sport.

KIDS OF STEEL TRIATHLONS
Ottawa Kids Triathlon hosts 4 children’s and youth triathlon races in and around Ottawa including at Westboro Beach and the Western Parkway in August. http://ottawakidstri.ca

Dovercourt is pleased to be the community sponsor of the Westboro Beach KOS race with Ottawa Kids Tri. As a community sponsor, Dovercourt offers local promotion of the event as well as assistance in staging the event including volunteer support.


BYTOWN TRIATHLON CLUB – KIDS OF STEEL PROGRAM
Greg Kealy is one of the top coaches of children and adults in the Ottawa Area. His Bytown Triathlon Club provides high quality triathlon training and on-going coaching and support for young recreational and competitive athletes. See his website at www.endurancecentre.com for programs.

WILEY RYAN CHILDREN’S FUN RUNS & ADULT FUN RUNS
Somersault Promotions organizes triathlon, duathlon and road races in the Ottawa area. The Wiley Ryan Fun Runs cover 2km and 5km distances and are great for children (2km) and adults (5km). For more information go to www.somersault.com


WYC Westboro Youth Centre

The WYC offers drop-in recreation and homework help programs on Wednesday evenings and recreation based programs on Friday nights. This non-denominational drop in centre is located at All Saints Anglican Church at 354 Madison Avenue (off Churchill Avenue, one block north of Richmond Road). For further information call: 725-9488

Please note: We take ALL forms of payment (credit cards, debit etc), not just cheques. Payments can be combined, but separate registration forms are required for each child.
