We offer a variety of Specialty Aquatics classes including Swimmer Family, private & semi-private packages, competitive swimming, synchronized swimming and more. For Aquafitness classes, see the Health & Fitness department page "Aquafitness"

Note: Not all the specialty classes are offered each session. Please see Schedules for times and course codes.

Program Description
PRIVATE PACKAGE Quality one on one instruction based on individual needs. A package of four, five or six private lessons. Please note that private package classes cannot be rescheduled but a substitute participant is welcome.
SEMI PRIVATE PACKAGE Quality instruction based on individual needs. Participants must be of similar swim ability. A package of four, five or six private lessons. Please note that the private package classes cannot be rescheduled but a substitute participant is welcome.
INDIVIDUAL REQUESTS An Individual private lessons are available for purchase following the first week of lessons.
DAYTIME
LESSONS
We have a number of home schooled participants who find it more convenient to schedule their lessons during the weekday afternoons. If afternoons work for you or your group contact the Director of Aquatics, Kathleen Finn at 798-8950 x228 or kfinn@dovercourt.org.
GYM AND SWIM ADVENTURE Discover the world of play both in and out of the water. Your preschooler will explore the worlds of art, science, music and story time before heading off to the pool. Prerequisite: 3-5 years old.
AFTER SCHOOL GROUP SWIM LESSONS Group Swim Lessons designed especially for Dovercourt's After School Program Participants but everyone is welcome. Our instructors will group participants by experience/ ability and instruct the Lifesaving Swim program. Prerequisite: 5 years and older.
INTRO TO COMPETITIVE SWIMMING
An introduction to competitive swimming. Participants are taught racing starts, turns and strokes, as well as endurance training. Prerequisite: Completed Swimmer 4 or swim front & back crawl comfortably.
INTRO TO SYNCHRO An introductory program where the participants will be introduced to basic skills, techniques and positions. Prerequisite: 5-14 years old, completed Swimmer 3, deep water comfort required.
ADULT LEARN TO SWIM
A gentle learn to swim program for the TRUE non-swimmer. Don't be left on shore or hesitate to participate in water activities again. Prerequisite: 16 years and older.
ADULT DROP IN LESSONS This flexible program will meet the needs, interests & goals based on individual ability. For the “beginner” to the “Master”. Fall - Spring: Mon, Wed: 8:45 - 9:35. Summer: Tuesday or Thursday 8 - 8:50pm. Prerequisite 16 years and older.
ADULT STROKE TECHNIQUE An opportunity to maximize your stroke potential in a warm water environment before kicking off distance training. Ideal for those working towards a triathlon, adventure racers or water sports enthusiasts.
SURF & TURF CAMP

A specialty camp for those who love to swim. Spend at least half the day in, on, or around the water; sprinkled with a variety of “land locked’ camp activities.

Prerequisite: 6-8 year olds, swim 5-10m unassisted. 7-9 year olds, swim 25m (1 length of the pool)

JUNIOR LIFEGUARD CAMP

– previously Surf & Turf (9-11 year olds)

The same “fun filled” water & land locked camp activities with the added excitement of Lifeguarding skills, including rescues & basic first aid. Build endurance & fitness through games & drills. Make new friends and have Fun! Work towards the Lifesaving Rookie, Ranger & Star Patrol awards.

Prerequisite: 9 - 12 years, swim 100 m (4 lengths of the pool)

"HEAVY MEDAL" CAMP

An action packed camp where you could earn your Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion & Emergency First Aid certifications.

Prerequisite: Recommended 11 years old and Star Patrol or comfortably swim 350m non-stop.
