| Give back to the community
that gives to you: Join the "DoverCorps".
Have
a few hours a week, a month, a year? Dovercourt
Recreation Centre is always looking for committed community
volunteers to help us achieve our community goals. Gain valuable
experience, help continue the community spirit or make a difference
in someones life.
Volunteer opportunities
available: Special event
assistants, center greeters, assist a senior in a fitness
class, help a developmentally delayed child participate in
a program. The possibilities are limitless.
We welcome high school students who want
to complete community involvement hours but we do require
a minimum of a 40-hour commitment. Students should contact
the department they wish to work with.
Contact: Dovercourt Recreation
Centre @ 798-8950 for more details and to complete a volunteer
application form. For Volunteer Application form click

Dovercourt Recreation
Association is also a charity!
As well as the challenge of running Ottawas busiest
community centre, DRA works hard on its charitable mission
of sharing our programs and resources with those less
fortunate.
Your charitable
contribution supports:
- our financial assistance program,
which provides funding for low income families and
individuals to join Dovercourts activities;
- specialized programs, including
free disabled swims, rehabilitation fitness programs,
and support for people
with special needs participating in regular programs;
- the purchase of equipment and furnishings
for Dovercourt operations and programs;
- facility improvements;
- special events for the community
such as Music in the Park, Halloween, and our winter
carnival;
- volunteer management and recognition.
You can help your community
working for a community!
Charitable donation receipts
are issued for donations greater than $10.00.

A special thank you to the 2004 team
of volunteers who were responsible for building the ice surface,
clearing snow and the regular floods of the Dovercourt and
McKellar outdoor rinks. It was our best winter ever. We are
proud to be part of the community rink program. Thanks for
helping us provide an arena where children can learn to skate,
a place where families can have fun together and a place where
the famous hockey players and figure skaters of the future
can get their start.
